The three little robins had been kidnapped and no doubt destroyed we think by a hawk that is seen here so often. I feel sorry for them and their faithful mother robin that attended to them so very well. She was sitting on the banister this morning not feeding the babies but I did not realize then that her babies were gone. “God notices even the sparrow that falls”. I saw a crow on the lawn this morning and feared it would get the birds but it had apparently already taken them. Being only 4 feet away from the balcony where the mother robin had so carefully woven the nest, it seems I could've done something to save them all.

Think how a mother robin feels when she flies back to her nest after collecting worms to feed her babies and they are all gone. There is a lot of scavengers in the animal and bird kingdom the same as there are among human beings that need to be stopped committing awful crimes. The joy this brought to this family but we will never see this robin again.
